Current dietary guidelines focus on lowering dietary fat and increase of carbohydrate intake.
Consumption of carbohydrates with a high glycaemic index (a measure of how quickly and how high specific foods raise the blood sugar level) promotes a short-term increase in energy intake, although no studies have linked this to long-term changes in body weight.
The problem main problem is that Insulin drives glucose into liver and muscle cells as glycogen (in small, finite amounts) and into fat cells as triglycerides (in unlimited amounts). Krebs's cycle itself is just a description of vital processes taking place in the human body; producing both cellular energy and primary biochemical for biosynthesis: The Krebs's cycle is critical not just for the production of energy (the feed of NADH and FADH2 to the respiratory chain).
It also produces key biochemical feedstock required for the further synthesis of a wide variety of biochemical essential for cellular function. As an example, the forth step produces a-ketoglutarate. Today, millions and millions of people suffer from chronic diseases that didn't even exist in previous centuries. Diabetes and heart disease, for example, are 20th Century conditions.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome wasn't even described in the literature until the mid 1980's. Yet, one study estimated that today, 70% of the adult American population suffers from Chronic Fatigue! Many modern afflictions largely arose as a result of a fundamental change in our national diet, changes in our environment and stress. The chronic use of drugs and vaccines has also played a major role.
A "chronic" disease is one that does not pass away on it's own accord, and a "metabolic" disease is one which arises within the body and is not transmittable to others like the infectious diseases. In addition there is another being Cancer.

The cancer death rate in 1900 was 64 per 100,000 Americans/year. In 1950, this figure has risen to 130 and currently, it's at an all time high of 140-150/year. We've got many new treatments (chemo-therapy, radiation, etc.), but the numbers keep rising. Even worse more and more people get cancer early in life now.
For many difficult to understand that with the knowledge freely available about possible harmful affect of the modern diet, the fact that the carbohydrates who are not even listed as an essential nutrient the decision was taken to be put it on the recommendation lists and promoted and advice to increase usage. An essential nutrient is a nutrient required for normal human body function that either cannot be synthesized by the body at all, or cannot be synthesized in amounts adequate for good health (e.g. niacin, choline), and thus must be obtained from a dietary source. Essential nutrients are also defined by the collective physiological evidence for their importance in the diet, as such represented in e.g. US government approved tables for Dietary Reference Intake. Some categories of essential nutrients include vitamins, dietary minerals, essential fatty acids, and essential amino acids. Different species have very different essential nutrients. For example, most mammals synthesize their own ascorbic acid, and it is therefore not considered an essential nutrient for such species. It is, however, an essential nutrient for human beings, who require external sources of ascorbic acid (known as Vitamin C in the context of nutrition). As a general dietary recommendation, an expert scientific panel of the European Food Safety Authority reported that carbohydrates should supply 45-60% of daily energy as the reference intake.
Glucose can be supplied by carbohydrate digestion, by synthesis from amino acids and glycerol obtained from fat metabolism or by de novo synthesis (called gluconeogenesis) which, without a concurrent carbohydrate supply, which depletes nitrogen stores and is insufficient to maintain normal brain metabolism alone. However, the body can and will adapt to this state by producing ketones (a state called ketosis) to fuel the brain, which can only use glucose and ketones for fuel, unless carbohydrate stores are replenished. It is where fasting is based on and used for the last 5000 years to enhance health, wellness and healthy ageing. Not once in a lifetime but at least every years. The old civilisations where well aware why and the need for it.
We as Humans have a weak defence against overeating, which is a functional trait from an evolutionary perspective. Various studies found that people do not compensate their energy intake after the consumption of snacks. What is clear however is that these carbohydrate were and are of commercial interests. The shift to a high hydrocarbon type diet was done because they are much easier to produce as food in large quantities, (mechanisation, introduction of chemicals like herbicides, insecticides, pesticides, grow hormones, fertilizers), easy to store, transport and ship, financial much more rewarding, exploitable, the proceeding and products can be patented. A consensus reached between decision makers of the government and commercial interest.
POWER, MONEY & GREED.
Part of the American dream of cheap food, preferable produced in the US and control over these markets to optimise value. Most of the companies involved work now world wide. Everybody does need food and when you are able to control it take whatever you like or can. Controlling and be able to make sure what gets to the market and stores first priority. Yet as a result we are in the midst of a national epidemic of obesity.
It was Nostradamus who predicted that a great epidemic would hunt the world were people would left to die within there homes and on the street, few did expect that not only his prediction might prove to be right, the countries most affected to be the West. Not due to infectious diseases but as a result of chronic.
A similar warning is embedded inside the old testament:.
"The story of Cain and Abel is strange and impenetrable". The incident hinges around God's 'respect' for Abel's offering of the firstlings of his flock and his marked lack of respect for Cain's offering of the fruits of the earth (Genesis 4:2-5). In fact, most of the people in the West seem to over-medicated over-fed and at the same time wildly malnourished. Their brains and bodies are heavily contaminated with destructive chemicals, heavy metals and synthetic materials. Many forced to abandon the higher cognitive functions located in our mammal brain and now survive on our small or reptile brains, containing survival mechanisms, of our instinct, sexual drive, anger, love, aggression and basically primitive and automated responses. Other aspects are time and place, ego, copy cat's.
There are now estimates that most of our daily activities and up to 90% are made take place within and are coordinated in our primitive brain brain parts which explains the radical rise in sex crimes, behavioural addictions, substance abuse and violent crime across society today. The kind of insanity we see played out across newspaper headlines and news broadcasts.
This is far beyond any single issue of labelling issues of GMOs, or buying organic or testing foods for heavy metals. This is about how the West and its human civilization is being brought to its knees by the most insidious stealth weapon ever experienced and used in our collective history: PROCESSED FOOD laced with toxic substances.
Going back to the story on insulin; the stimulatory effect of increased carbohydrate intake (especially sugar or processed carbohydrates) on insulin concentrations provides a sound biological mechanism linking high-glycaemic carbohydrate diets to weight gain, given the potent antilipolytic effects of insulin at physiologic concentrations.
Again in addition, insulin under normal conditions also inhibits the breakdown and utilization of these stored fat of carbohydrate origin. When you start fasting and go hungry your body switch into a survival mode and is able to burn this type of stored fat. The amount of food restriction needed depends on the person and vary depended on who is involved because it is gene controlled. When we look-up the rejuvenation principles as used thousand of years ago it was not uncommon for the person to be treated to be sedated in order to limit the suffering and would be able to continue. Left to sleep or slumber in a dark room away from light and other stimulants.
Insulin is produced in the pancreas and there are two medical conditions one in which it does not produce enough and the other producing to much. From these two clinical extremes: type 1 diabetes (T1D) and the other being insulinoma.
In the first the immune system destroys beta cells (the pancreatic cells that make insulin) – resulting in an extreme case of low insulin. In the second case a tumour of the beta cell leads to hyper secretion of insulin – this is an extreme case of high insulin. Prior to the discovery of insulin as the only treatment, patients who developed
T1D would become emaciated, if the other complications of glycosuria and dehydration didn't harm them first. They literally lost all fat and muscle. Conversely, patients with insulinoma often present looking not just obese, but almost disfigured in their adiposity. As these tumours were removed the patients would begin to return to their previous state and the adipose tissue would melt away.
Adding refined sugar to food or the consumption of snacks contributes to higher energy intake and affecting body weight in humans. These up-graded foods and snacks available snacks have a higher energy density than most of the foods that were available in Palaeolithic diets. This is particularly true for energy-containing drinks, which provide calories in liquid form.
